Photo Slideshows TIPS

Creating the best photo slideshows-

So you have decided to compile your collection of photographs into an interactive photo slideshow; a great decision indeed.

At Best-photo-slideshows.com we aspire to create slideshows that touch the inner souls of their viewers, and you touch people's souls when you know them, when you know their language, and when you know their disposition.

Similarly, in order to create a meaningful slideshow you need the right ingredients, and in this case, it would be the number of photographs, their quality, their sequence, and the music you want played while they watch your precious moments pass by, one by one.Listed below are a few suggestions that we have garnered over the years we have spent creating photo slideshows for our clients

Know your audiance

Before collecting your photographs, preparing the format and the sequence, and deciding on the music, you must know what sort of audience is going to watch your slideshow. Is it going to be a big group or a small, selected audience of family and friends? Is your photo slideshow going to be played in the background during your wedding or anniversary party, or are people going to specifically sit in front of the screen and watch it uninterrupted? Is it for kids, for teenagers, or for grownups?

Knowing how people are going to watch or who is going to watch affects the kind of photographs you choose. For instance, if your photo slideshow is going to be played in the background during a party or some other ongoing event then you should have lots of photographs in your collection so that even if they lose the track it's easier to pick up the thread again.

During the ongoing event if you have a dedicated slot for your slideshow where people are going to specifically watch it, then ideally your slideshow should contain about 200-300 photographs accompanied with 7-10 songs(that's obout 20min. show). Five songs and around 175 photographs are appropriate for a small, intimate gathering, or for personal viewing (although it all depends on the events you are covering).

Weave the right sequence

A perfect story has a beginning, the middle narrative, and then an end. It's kind of a journey that begins with expectations, flows with events and emotions, and then ends, perhaps with a nostalgic tear or two. Therefore, the sequence is very crucial.

Play the right music

Our emotions float on the currents of musical notes. Choose the right tracks for your photo slideshow. Background music can both spoil and enhance your movie. Music is generally based on the mood of the photographs and on the audience. Select songs and rhythms that can really touch the viewers. Remember it should complement your slideshow, and shouldn't cause distraction. Whether it is country, pop, opera or jazz, just make sure it acts as a compliment. There is some really great music available on online music stores.

Select the best photos

Since your photographs are going to remain in your slideshow forever, you should be careful about what photographs you select. Make sure your photographs are not smudged, grainy, cracked or torn. Although there are some faults that can be mended by image editing software, not even the latest tools can correct grainy or out-of-focus photographs.

Since a slideshow may have lots of transitions like zoom-in, zoom-out, cropping, brightening and dimming and revolving etc. choose only the best, the clearest photographs so that they don't distort during the transition effects.Enliven the show with sprinkles of video clipsSmall video clips inserted at appropriate places help you enrich the interactive experience of your photo slideshow.

While selecting the video clips for your photo slideshow make sure they are brief, to the point, and help the story move forward. They shouldn't break the flow of your story.

Strum the right chords with the right words

Writers and journalists use quotes and lines of poetry to embellish their writing and you can do that too. Do you feel there are some quotes that will go well as photo captions? Do you think a few lines of some famous (or your personal) poems will draw deep, sentimental sighs from the audience? Write them on stick-it notes and attach them to the backsides of the photographs you want them to be used as captions.

Render a personal touch

Although you will be getting your photo slideshow developed from the professionals at Best-photo-slideshows.com, a personal touch such as a selected photograph or a signature tune, or a song that you used to sing with family and friends can give a whole lot different, personal meaning to your photo slideshow.

Let the end leave an impression

The end must always invoke a strong feeling. Select a few photographs that encapsulate the entire philosophy behind getting your photo slideshow developed. It can be a written message from you in your own handwriting, or it can also feature you selecting the photographs for the slideshow.

Backing-up always saves the day

Once you have scanned your photographs keep the originally scanned images in a separate folder and then make all the changes you feel like, so that if something goes wrong the original image can always be retrieved. Another advantage of preserving your originally scanned images is that the paper prints get spoiled during the course of time, but as long as you keep multiple copies of your scanned images and take regular backups you will never lose your photographs.

All the best with your slideshow.
